Parma Ham and Goat Cheese Flatbread (Makes 3 flatbreads)

INGREDIENTS
Dough:

  •  600g Bread Flour
  • 10g Instant Yeast
  • 5ml Salt
  • 5 ml Dry Herbs (optional)
  • 50g Butter, Room Temperature
  • 350ml Warm Water
  • 10ml Olive Oil

Topping:

  • 250g of Caramelized Onions (optional)
  • 250g Shaving Parma Ham
  • 250g Goat Cheese
  • Finely chopped Chives for Garnish

 
INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  • Sift the flour, yeast and salt together and add dry herbs (optional).
  • Stir yeast until luke warm, add the butter and stir.
  • Add to the flour mixture and knead to make a dough.
  • Rub a clean bowl with the olive oil and place the dough in the bowl.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth set aside and let it rise.
  • Once it has doubled in size, knead it again. Divide it into three pieces.
  • Using a rolling pin, roll flat like a pizza. Brush with olive oil and place on a greased baking tray. Bake 5 minutes until slightly puffed up and golden brown. You can also place on a braai grid just before you serve the braai meat or serve a pre-dinner snack.
  • Remove the flat bread from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Spread the onions on the flat bread and top with parma ham, goat’s cheese a handful of chives and serve warm.
