Umngazi Hotel & Spa (formerly Umngazi River Bungalows & Spa) won the Global Luxury Family All-Inclusive Hotel Award at the eighth annual World Luxury Hotel Awards, held at The Bay in Cape Town on 6 December 2014. More than 1,000 hotels from 145 countries were nominated for the 2014 awards, with Umngazi competing alongside international properties including Atlantis, The Palm Dubai, winner of the Global Family category.

General Managers Graham and Michele Walker credited the win to the efforts of the resort’s owners, management, and team in delivering a consistently high standard of service, and described it as a humbling recognition given the calibre of the international hotels represented on the night.
