From Sunrise To Sunset: Capturing The Magic Of Umngazi In Photos 

As the sun rises above the untamed Indian Ocean, magic at Umngazi Hotel & Spa ensues. 1 | The Indian Ocean 

Situated 20kms south of Port St. Johns, Umngazi Hotel & Spa overlooks the beautiful Indian Ocean. Early birds will be lucky enough to catch the most spectacular sunrise over the sea, but even later in the day you can spot cows grazing on the beach or dolphins surfing in the waves. 

2 | The Mngazi River 

Home to some of the most exquisite birdlife and aquatic animals, the Mngazi River is sparkly and serene, providing a perfect backdrop during your stay. While adventurers prefer to kayak or SUP the waterway, it can also be admired (and photographed) from the outside dining deck, some of the rooms, and on our not-to-be-missed afternoon river cruise. 

3 | The Wild Coastline

The rolling hillsides are one of the Wild Coast’s main attractions – providing guests with one-of-a-kind hikes and cycles. Dotted with colourful little houses, Nguni cows and stunning birdlife, there is so much to see and do – and the views are unbeatable. 

4 | The Hotel Lodgings 

Complementing the natural surroundings, the rooms at Umngazi Hotel & Spa are relaxed, beachy, and exceptionally comfortable. Each of the 68 thatched cottages offer either garden, river or sea views, and have an en suite bathroom and outdoor area. Upon entering your room, you’ll want to kick off your shoes, let down your hair, and have an afternoon siesta (because that’s what holidays are for)!  

5 | The Umngazi Spa 

Set high up on the hillside, overlooking the river and ocean – there’s no better place to enjoy some me-time than at the serene Umngazi Spa. With a variety of treatments available, you’ll be absolutely spoilt for choice. 

6 | The Dining Deck

The ideal spot to enjoy your all-inclusive meals is on the outside dining deck overlooking the pool and river – making mealtimes everyone’s favourite time of the day. Sit back and enjoy delectable home cooked meals while listening to the ambient sounds of clinking cutlery, joyous laughter, and the melodious songs of birds.

7 | The Pool 

There’s no more idyllic setting for a day of relaxation, basking in the warm embrace of sunshine, and indulging in some quality reading time, than around the hotel pool. With a view that overlooks the Mngazi River, you’ll be able to enjoy a sundowner on one of our loungers while spending quality time with your loved one’s. 

Finally, as the sun dips behind the hills, and the moon rises and the stars start to twinkle, guests make their way to their rooms to catch some much-needed Zs.
