Umngazi Hotel & Spa is the perfect destination for a family holiday – it offers families a breathtaking beach escape with warm sunny days and balmy nights. Parents can relax and relish the beauty of nature while their children are free to run barefoot in the mud, slip & slide, ride sand dunes, cast a fishing rod and make crafts.

Parents may soak up quiet pool time or unwind at our spa while our childminders take care of their little ones. If you require assistance with child care during your stay, please enquire at reception, and we will assist you with making arrangements.

Kiddies Spaces

The Creative Corner is a bright sensory space designed to stimulate the creativity and imagination of little ones with daily activities and crafts. This space is suitable for children 8 years old and younger.

The Pavillion is perfect for older children with fun board games, table tennis and a TV to enjoy a movie in the evenings. We also have a well-equipped jungle gym and trampoline to keep children active and busy.

For ages 12 years old and under, the Kid’s Dining Room is a charming and sociable space for children outside of adult mealtimes. It provides sanctuary to families wanting to feed babies, and parents are free to use the area throughout the day according to their feeding routines. This bright, airy facility, adjacent to the main dining room, is equipped with high chairs, a communal dining table, a separate fridge as well as a microwave.

The Slipway Lounge is the perfect chill area for our visiting teenagers. With comfortable couches, an outside deck, a TV, Bluetooth speaker and wi-fi, it offers the perfect teen space.

Kid-friendly Activities

Our team thoughtfully plans daily activities for children to enjoy. Please have a look on the boards outside of reception for the times.

The main swimming pool is a family favourite, you will find loungers available to bask in the sun at your leisure. Sandboarding is an exciting activity for the whole family! Pick up your sandboard from reception and head across the river to the sand dunes for plenty of fun and laughter.

Fishing is excellent entertainment for kids and lets them enjoy the outdoors and interact with the nature around them. You can expect to catch Bronze Bream, Black Tail and the odd Brusher in gullies/white water, and during the summer months, heavy tackle fishing from the deep water points is usually good. Gillies are available at the hotel to assist your eager children. Please ask reception, and they will be able to assist you with arranging a gilly.

Our Garden Family Rooms are nestled in our beautifully manicured indigenous gardens, close to the main hotel facilities. Tranquillity awaits in a River Family Room overlooking the Mngazi River, offering an oasis to unwind. Wake up to glorious sea views in our Sea Family Rooms that maintain comfortable proximity to the main hotel facilities.

These family rooms feature interleading rooms to cater to families, with amenities that include two single beds or a large king size bed, an en suite bathroom with an outside shower, tea and coffee facilities, a patio and hairdryers.

A family holiday is a time to connect and enjoy each other’s company, but we also have beautiful spaces for parents to unwind while kids have a ball with delightful activities.
